The living room is very large (60 by 30 feet) and it has a great-looking gray couch with plenty of space around. The red accent color is repeated on the columns, doors and even on the carpet.

This home has an office area and a private vestibule off the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. All bedrooms are well proportioned with built-ins and custom closets. The master bedroom has a huge walk-in closet and a master bath with a double sink and separate bath and showers.

The rooms are separated from the living area to preserve the privacy of each family member, but the day part is completely open, impressive volume, allowing the installation of large furniture, a perfect place to receive and to party.

Gothic Industrial Loft in Salt Lake City https://www.loftenberg.com/gothic-industrial-loft-in-salt-lake-city/ https://www.loftenberg.com/gothic-industrial-loft-in-salt-lake-city/#respond Wed, 10 Feb 2016 10:36:43 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10338 When Hollie and Sean Strasburg bought their loft in the Tire Town building in Salt Lake City, they knew immediately that they wanted to bring the space back to its industrial roots. Thus started the story of this gothic industrial loft.

gothic industrial loft

Built in 1925 to house the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, this fantastic red-brick building is currently home to Cucina Toscana, an Italian restaurant on the main floor and two living spaces above. It’s a prime spot, to put it lightly: the lucky owners are hovering above Pioneer Park on the corner of 300 south and 300 West. These two homes encompass the perfect way to live downtown without sacrificing outdoor space.

gothic-industrial-loft-11

The designers started stripping away much of what the last tenant had installed in order to reveal all the raw and simple beauty of the space’s original form. From there, they started carefully adding layers back on that worked harmoniously with the industrial vibe. The magic lays in the richness, created with specific materials. Aged, natural, cherry-finished cabinets in the kitchen, dark colors, black painted metalwork: it’s all delightfully juxtaposed by bright white walls and massive windows that allow for copious amounts of natural light throughout the space.

gothic-industrial-loft-13

A smart move in retaining this building’s old charm was by keeping the brickwork exposed. The brick walls offer a new look while preserving the history and the original character of the edifice.

gothic-industrial-loft-18

The master bath is a dish of gothic industrial: a metal/chain chandelier over a custom, matte-black-enameled tub that’s perched opposite the ebony-stained cabinets. The walls are lined with 48” wood tile planks, which add a lot of texture and a touch more drama. The designers managed to add an organic element to an otherwise very hard and raw space with the grass-cloth wallpaper, and to accentuate the high ceilings, we hung 72” pendants from the ceiling over each nightstand. But the highlight is that double-sided fireplace (so you can take your romance in the bedroom and the living room).

Modern Loft from a Brussels Warehouse https://www.loftenberg.com/modern-loft-from-a-brussels-warehouse/ https://www.loftenberg.com/modern-loft-from-a-brussels-warehouse/#respond Mon, 08 Feb 2016 20:20:53 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10323 A former warehouse was transformed into this modern loft in Brussels, Belgium by SHSH architects. The goal was to create an experience of colors and textures – on a limited budget. The concept revolved around the loft as ‘the ocean’ and constructed elements (kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom) as ‘the islands’.

The space of the loft reminds you of an ocean. The functions are, when necessary, enclosed in volumes floating on it. With no corridors and a minimum of partitions, there is only a vast space where three island-like volumes are planned: the bedrooms, the kitchen and the sanitary facilities.

Modern loft in Brussels

These three functional islands have all different textures and colors. The volumes are placed against the walls leaving a large open space next to the existing South-East face windows.

“Inspiration came from random but meaningful sources; an automated conveyor in steel – a pine structure – the color of Shin’s sweater.”

On the bedrooms volume, walls are finished with wooden materials, with bookshelves and closets on the sides. The children’s bedrooms are closed tightly for optimal acoustic requirements. The adult’s bedroom is closed by steel-framed sliding doors in order to take natural light from the workspace.

modern-loft-brussels-12

In the second volume, the walls of the kitchen and laundry room are in Matsuba-iro, a dull green color like the leaves of a pine tree. In the kitchen, the central island is situated at the edge of the raised floor, allowing the family to use it as a bar from the dining room. The kitchen has been designed as an open element without doors or walls, showing the utensils arranged on sliding trays. All hardware has been carefully chosen to provide an industrial appearance, fine and simple.

modern-loft-brussels-10

Finally, the sanitary block includes a separated toilet, a technical room and a bathroom, all in Benihi-iro, a red scarlet tone. In an industrial building with no sound insulation, a rubber floor material of 16 mm was chosen to prevent the spread of noise between floors. The floors are raised only where necessary for sanitary and electrical installations.

This double-height, Insane Vancouver Loft is most probably the largest unit in the building.

Industrial Loft With a Huge Bookshelf https://www.loftenberg.com/industrial-loft-with-huge-bookshelf/ https://www.loftenberg.com/industrial-loft-with-huge-bookshelf/#comments Fri, 05 Feb 2016 13:16:52 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10296 You could miss this industrial loft for a library – a huge bookshelf dominates the living room.

Renovated space is treated as one whole unit converted from its original purpose into new living space which maintain all elements that makes industrial lofts appealing (exposed concrete, high ceilings, big windows, air vents, beams, columns,…)

huge bookshelf

Entire space can be divided into three functional areas. Left from main entrance, which is located centrally, are located kitchen and dining area. On the right side from main entrance are living area and home library. Space between those two functional areas is used as “reading corner” and can be also used as salon.

huge-bookshelf-loft-5

Most of its original materials and construction elements are kept in order to preserve industrial spirit and feeling of the loft. Furniture used in this project is intended to break the rigidness of the space itself and create worm and welcoming atmosphere. Transition between brick wall and exposed concrete with new use of the space is achieved through industrial element design such as weathered wooden flooring and light fixtures.

Bohemian New York Loft https://www.loftenberg.com/bohemian-new-york-loft/ https://www.loftenberg.com/bohemian-new-york-loft/#respond Mon, 01 Feb 2016 21:07:35 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10100 A great room is the focal point of this bohemian New York Loft. Expertly arranged bookshelves, plants and rugs divide the room up into distinct areas. In the sitting area, you’ll find low-slung sofas with patterned prints and large artworks on the walls. On the left side, the master bedroom is also big and bold, with a king-size bed, oversized photographs and a wood-panelled ensuite.

Back across the living space, you’ll find the kitchen, which has transparent navy-blue cabinets. Behind the curved wall to the left of the dining area is a bathroom and pair of bedrooms, decorated with peppy colours. Down the hall you’ll find a bedroom with lofted bed, a double bedroom and another bathroom.

All rooms show off bohemian character, the master bedroom is big and bold, with oversized photographs; you’ll find the kitchen, which has transparent navy-blue cabinets. Using simple color combinations made each space work as magic that created a spacious feel. The design of this Bohemian New York Loft is very eclectic and a lot of attention was taken for every detail when designing, to expose all details at every corner.

bohemian-new-york-loft-19

It was in the 1960s that artists began flocking to a neighborhood south of Houston Street, drawn by the abandoned manufacturing lofts with high ceilings, abundant natural light and most importantly, cheap rent. As the bohemian set refashioned these wrecks into live-and-work spaces, they dramatically transformed the neighborhood too.

bohemian-new-york-loft-21

Today’s Soho is just as irresistible to creative types – albeit the polar opposite of the starving artist variety. The neighborhood’s historic cast-iron buildings now hold some of the most jaw-dropping price tags in the country, and it shows in the company they keep.

Design stalwarts Prada and Chanel rub elegant shoulders with a few choice art galleries, a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant and an Apple store.

A casual Saturday brunch at Balthazar typically includes a side of runway model or two. A stroll down the cobblestone streets may come with a celebrity encounter, complete with paparazzi in hot pursuit.

Yet there are still pockets of Soho that retain that old edge, and there’s always something to discover at every turn: a corner pub that has been serving up tipples since 1847, a tiny bakery that churns out pastries with cult followings or a club filled with beautiful people that’s concealed underneath a taqueria.

If you fancy, you can rent this loft here

Brutalist Concrete House in Mexico https://www.loftenberg.com/brutalist-concrete-house-mexico/ https://www.loftenberg.com/brutalist-concrete-house-mexico/#respond Sun, 31 Jan 2016 17:48:02 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10079

A concrete house may seem an odd choice for a family of four. But for Pedro Reyes, Carla Fernández and their two young children, there are few spaces sweeter than their sprawling Brutalist abode. At first glance, it’s a sea of gray. But a closer look and a half-hour’s conversation reveals its playful peculiarities – and its purpose.

concrete housebrutalist-concrete-house-11

More than just a living space, the house serves as creative headquarters for both Pedro, a renowned sculptor, and Carla, a fashion designer whose cutting-edge garments have found an eager audience worldwide. For the couple, who share a fierce passion for the preservation of Mexican culture, it’s also the physical embodiment of a long-standing mission to draw attention to the country’s vibrant artistic history and traditions. Strategically placed hits of lemon yellow and magenta are a tribute to Mexican architect Luis Barragán and a number of the walls are built of cement bricks handmade in-house by community craftsmen. “Our home is a laboratory,” says Pedro.

brutalist-concrete-house-8

This concrete house is also something of an exhibition space, housing a diverse collection of Pedro’s furniture and sculptural work, Carla’s textiles and a vast array of books. On top of it all, however, the home is a gathering place, host to a revolving door of visiting friends, family and local artists, many of whom take up temporary residence while working with the couple on their many collaborative endeavors. “It’s a social space,” says Pedro.

We are always welcoming guests or hosting the artisans on our teams. It’s a little like living in a factory – but also a playground, too.

Eclectic London Loft https://www.loftenberg.com/eclectic-london-loft/ https://www.loftenberg.com/eclectic-london-loft/#respond Sat, 30 Jan 2016 13:57:46 +0000 https://www.loftenberg.com/?p=10052 When you live above Etsy’s London headquarters in one of the capital’s best-known design hubs, you might feel some pressure to ensure your flat is up to the high standards of your neighbors. Luckily for Heather, one of her passions is interior design. She took the challenge head-on and decked out her spacious and eclectic London loft with carefully chosen pieces—this is distinctly not an off-the-shelf design job.

eclectic-london-loft-5

Heather spent all of her spare time in the weeks after moving in getting to know her new city and discovering the challenges of procurement in a foreign country, combing London’s vintage markets and interiors stores for the perfect pieces to complement the flat. With a mix of personal items, vintage finds, and eclectic eBay purchases, Heather has managed to highlight the open plan living space as well as create a sense of security and charm, something that is often sacrificed to ideals of minimalism in such spaces.

eclectic-london-loft-9

The central living space makes you feel tall and proud. The room’s low pieces (that alluring green sofa, Danish lounge chairs, and paintings and signs that sit on the floor) and layered rugs add so much texture, while the vast windows of the warehouse building fill the room with light and energy from all directions. It’s an invigorating space to spend time in, and it’s perfectly balanced by the comforts of the downstairs guest bedroom and bathroom and the mezzanine level master bedroom and en suite.

eclectic london loft

While there is a distinct lack of doors on the upper level, some clever roller blinds have been used to shield from view a wardrobe here, a bathroom there. Every room—every space—has eye-catching features that encourage conversation or raise a cheeky smile: a buffalo by the bath, horns above the bed, a naughty cross stitch, and a never-ending calendar won in a high school bet.

Having character is much more important than being perfect,

says Heather.

The large windows may present a challenge to the privacy-conscious, but there are blinds that shield the bedroom and frosted panes in the bathroom. Besides, the building is well-located in an area mostly used for office space and isn’t overlooked by large numbers of neighboring apartments. This means this eclectic London loft has the added bonus of being centrally located but also quiet during nights and weekends—ideal city life. Heather admits that the kitchen, while elegant and functional, is the least-used thing in the whole flat, but when the local neighborhood has such amazing food and drink, that’s easy to forgive.
