Oil Mill Loft

Located in Extramadura, a community of western Spain, this amazing building was first constructed by the JerÃ³nimo monks in the 12th century and later became an oil mill. Due to its historic value, its original architecture was kept intact. In order to rehabilitate the building and transform it into a proper living space, the current owners transmitted their request to architect Ricardo Elizondo, who reinvented the space, after almost two decades of utter neglect.

Found on Nuevo Estilo, this fabulous crib characterized by austere lines and natural materials is bold and dramatic, making it a perfect home for lovers of genuine experiences. Colorful materials give the place an inviting touch, while iron and steel elements make an intriguing contrast with the old brick walls. Vintage furniture is aesthetically mixed with modern wooden items and paintings liven the heavy atmosphere.

Medieval Living Space

Located in the core part of Gironaâ€s medieval quarter and overlooking the PlaÃ§a de Sant DomÃ¨nec, Spain,Â this is a property called Alemanys 5 within an original building dating back to the sixteenth century.

The house has been recently renovated by architect Anna Noguera and has and incredible design which integrates old and new, integrates traditional and contemporary elements: â€œThe new layout respects the logic of the structure to adapt it to the new functional requirements. On the ground floor, from the main door, the vestibule and small premises are accessed, on the first floor are a dwelling with an exit to courtyard and garden, and the second and third floors accommodate a duplex dwelling, with the night zone in the lower floor and the living room and kitchen in the upper floor to provide vistas and a roofed terrace. The project is organised around the two centrelines that structure the floor plan. The staircase has been shifted to place it next to the lift, in the interstitial space between the two directional lines of the centrelines. This space is configured as the hinge that generates the entire layoutâ€œ.- stated Anna Noguera, architect of Alemanys 5. Glass Ceiling in Stockholm

This lovely apartment below is located in Stockholm, in the Ostermalm district and was designed by Mats Gustafson. It stretches over an area of 180 square meters and features two patios (one that can host 10 sitting quests), an elevator with private keyÂ to enter straight into the dining room, an open fireplace and many, many more. There are no less than 12 meters from floor to ceiling and the glass floor in the middle (seen in the photos below) is only 3 cm but can hold up to 800 kilos per square meter. A remote controls all the existing technology in this modern home, from the air conditioning system to the blinds and fireplace. Every corner in this apartment is worth exploring, I find the bathroom particularly appealing and inspiring at the same time. Have a look!

Incredible Residence

Johannesburg, South Africa is the beautiful setting for this next amazing architectural masterpiece. Designed by Nico Van Der Meulen Architects, this 1,400 sqm residence in Eccleston Rd, Bryanston, stands tall on a sloped terrain, which was the reason for constructing a large basement as a base for the structure on the lower side of the building. Cantilevering volumes and a concrete beam support the visual appeal alongside the rust-like intrusions and portions clad with unfilled travertine. A koy pond guards the entrance, while an illuminated glass staircase can be seen through immense windows. The lounge is a double story space punctured by a 4 meter long fireplace. On the other side, the dining room can be seen and an open kitchen connects the two rooms. Features like a tennis court, a raised swimming pool or the gym and spa facilities transform this unequaled building into a luxurious residence. A wine cellar makes the picture perfect home whole, while the pyjama lounge with its own kitchenette on the first floor accentuates the fact that this is where the childrenâ€s suites are. The master bedroom opens on to a panoramic terrace, like all the other bedrooms and lounges of the house do. The north orientation allows plenty of sunshine and natural ventilation. Just think how it would be like not to have time to enjoy all the cool features of this house.

Old Cannon Foundry Modified into a Contemporary Glass Family Home

This next beautiful residence was designed by the Lithuanian architectural practice NatkeviÄius. Constructing a modern single family house based on a cannon foundry was a challenge for the architects. But once the idea formed into their minds, they decided to preserve the old structure in a contemporary glass box. The old yellow brick lodge received a full restoration and other elements were added to perfect the modernity of the home. A Turkish bath in the basement can be used for relaxation. On the ground floor, the living room, kitchen, dining room, children`s bedrooms and wardrobe ensure the familyâ€s comfort, while the attic is reserved for the master bedroom. The architects explain their choices: â€œThe customer is a banker and antique book collector. A four member family house. Cleaning the plaster of a house revealed that the lodge had been built by ancient bricks which were made in a old Vilnius brick factories. The historical house structure have been carefully restored. Library of a collection of ancient books equipped in the basement of historical lodge.â€

Incredible Bookcase Apartment in Brasil by Triptyque Studio

Donâ€t you just love it when you see a home that emphasizes on its many, many books? In this post we would like to showcase an original apartment designed by Triptyque Studio for Houssein Jarouche, owner of the design boutique Micasa in SÃ£o Paulo. The striking element of this uncommon home is a giant curved bookcase that seems to be warped around the main living space of the apartment. Here is a small description from Triptyque: This project embodies the idea of global design â€“ itâ€s a completely artistic project. A contemporaneous and singular architectural plan is established from the layout to the faucets. The apartment was planned as a great gallery with aligned rooms without an established function. The goal was to stimulate unexpected occupations and give a certain gratuitÃ© to the spaces. Superb Spacious Residence with Industrial Design Elements

Elaine Cecconi is both the designer and the owner of this brilliant residence known as 6a Brockton House. Part of the Canadian design firm Cecconi Simone, Elaine Cecconi knew exactly what she wanted and how to accomplish the ideal interior design for her home, built in Toronto, Canada, on a quiet residential street. The residence was build between two other houses, with not much space available. This led to an amazing design incorporating lines and volumes that remind of a warehouse or a factory. Even the huge facade windows of the four storey home have a clear resemblance of those of an industrial building. The interior was cleverly designed to make use of fine materials and divide the space according to the functions needed: â€œThe extensive use of Corian, honed concrete floors and Brazilian Ipe speak to the durability of the residence, while clever room dividers, abundant storage and the oversize kitchen respond to the needs of everyday living. The flexible floor plan provides up to 4 bedrooms, and can easily be adapted for creative or professional use.â€ Modern and spacious, the 6a Brockton House has every room detailed with clean and contemporary lines. Especially the kitchen makes a statement of professional design and adds to the general feeling of overwhelming beauty.

Sophisticated and Detail-Oriented Home in Melbourne

With a very complex interior design, the Coronet Grove Residence by Maddison Architects is located in the Beaumaris suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The dynamic architecture speaks about the beauty of combining raw design with the love for details. Featuring 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the residence has sophisticated open spaces and showcases a meticulous attention to details. The neighborhood had a deep impact on the design of the house and this led to an amazing connection to the surroundings. Panoramas of the Port Phillip Bay can be easily enjoyed from the long and narrow terrace, but also from the large windows that allow light to constantly create elegant shadows in each room. The architects have a better understanding of the surprising interior and exterior of the house: â€œFormally, the house is split into two rectangular boxes. Airy Residence in Cyprus Combining Wood and Glass on a White Background

We came across a beautiful residence that presents an unequalled mixture of simplicity and modern style. Created by Greek architecture firm Varda Studio, the home named Adamos Residence is a luxurious collection of elegant spaces located in Limassol, Cyprus. The architects played with wood, stone and light to create unique living spaces that perforate through the usual interior design in order to offer an interesting choice of furniture, materials and decorations. Highlighting every room with the help of wood and powerful colours like orange and yellow, the interior design seems to be integrated in the inhabitantâ€s lifestyle. A large and airy living room can be seen right from the entrance. The raised deck in the living space delimitates the hallway, while the wood theme continues on the next floor. Modern staircases made from wood and glass offer a quick look into the interior design of the upstairs spaces. The Marilyn Monroe room divider in the bedroom is the perfect choice to express the elegant feeling of the home.
