In many cases, materials normally associated with exterior surfaces were reimagined in interior applications. Split face stone, concrete flooring, teak decking, and stucco walls all bring a tremendous amount of texture and warmth to an otherwise very minimal space. Each space was meticulously detailed to have its own defined style, while still relating to the overall design sensibility of the loft. The result is a fluid and flexible home that feels both open yet cozy.

The furnishings are so perfect: they have clean lines and an almost retro-feel, but they also have great, soft upholstery choices that are a variety of neutral colors. In fact we really love the sophisticated layers of neutral colors that show up in the palette: you see creamy beige and warm creams and light whites all mingling together, but then you see some darker natural wood tones for contrast. I basically just want to read a lot of books or nap or snuggle dogs all over this entire apartment.

This is the maxim Mitri Hourani has endorsed, both in his work and in this interior. Hanging lamps, tapestries galore, unmistakable marks of the owner of the house are omnipresent. The stylist, prototype designer and set designer of Lebanese origin, has opted to transform this former mill in the heart of Marseille as a true temple of recycling. Old objects, re-invented to give them a second life, is the goal set by himself since the beginning of his career and he has practiced it in his home that doubles as a workshop. Thus, the beauty and character of the old mill have been kept, but kitsch objects provide a touch of modern and vintage. The entrance is a large bay window , and therefore the only source of natural light. The designer offset the lack of light by a large number of lamps and fixtures of his own. In the salon, located in the heart of the old mill, a composition of suspended shades bring color in the room.

A Persian rug dresses the ground with warm oriental notes while a Parisian grid, usually used to protect trees has been reproduced in resin and gilded in gold hang on the wall. The rough stone of the walls and ceilings have been preserved to keep the authenticity of the mill. The interior combines original and quirky character house, antiques and Boboboom Mixplus creations. A place in his own image, in which it is realized and recognized.

When there, this place seems to be the only place on earth, being surrounded by hills, vineyards, oak and chestnut woods, an infinite pool and the building in itself seems to exist only to please its visitors and to make their staying as pleasant as possible. Villa Arrighi looks like a fortress which defies time;  its majestic look makes it the perfect place for a holiday, as you feel safe, you “breathe” beauty and you feel more at ease than you have ever felt before.

The interior seems to say the entire story of this place, but its present  modernity does not affect the feeling of safety previously offered. The modern paintings on the walls, the furniture pieces, the stairs, the library which makes you feel at home, the perfectly chosen decorative elements, everything around is an example of refined taste, of style and contributes to the general impression of having made the possible best choice and delay your departure.
