This duplex has been decorated almost entirely in black and white. The walls and the ceilings are white and the floors are light grey. The same colors have been used throughout the apartment and the result is a uniform look. The furniture is either completely white or completely black. Itâ€s interesting that there are no combinations. Thatâ€s probably because the designer wanted to create strong contrasts.

In the kitchen for example, the furniture is white. This creates a bright and spacious décor and itâ€s the best solution in this case. White might not be a favorite color in the kitchen because it gets easily dirty and it requires a lot of attention but when you want to create an elegant and uniform look I think thatâ€s a sacrifice worth to be made.

Anyway, the duplex is not entirely decorated in black and white. There some small spots of colors but they can be seen in decorations such as artwork, pillows and flowers.

The flat was designed by Israeli based Pitsou Kedem Architects.  The 100 square metre (1,076.4 square feet) residential flat which overlooks the majestic splendor of the Mediterranean Sea is very unique not only for its location but also for the structure itself.

I think this table is a beautiful piece and the chairs look great, but I wonder how comfortable they actually are.

Truly inspiring…

The house takes the form of a cube and presents a lot of inventive features such as sliding walls and shutters, a roll-down gate and a system that allows the building to acquire energy during the day, which can be later used. At night this huge house looks like a sealed space, but when it opens up the eastern and western side walls create a courtyard. Moreover, all the movable elements are based on built-in electronic engines, which means that you can operate them safely.

Not only does the house provide safety, but it is also a modern place with open spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural light to flood the rooms. Having all this and an indoor pool, the Safe House is an inspiring residence. With a home like this you can sleep peacefully.

When asked about how it will fit the area, Ms. Glassberg said

We’re leaving the containers as they are. We feel when we cover the trim around the edges, it’s just going to look like a modern house

Panels were removed to make the doors, and lots of windows give the narrow space an open look. The construction uses the latest in green materials and technology: with the help of BNIM Architects, the house is using geothermal heat, soy foam insulation and bamboo flooring.

The container house is in the middle of a traditional block filled with bungalow homes.

(Neighbors are) always out watching. Sometimes we can’t get any work done because they want to talk about it. But all in all, we’ve had good reactions,

Glassberg said.

The house was built in about five months. It’s more than 2,000 square feet in area, has two bedrooms and a large office in back.

We love it. It’s great space for living, great for entertaining,

Glassberg said.

Debbie is a former toy accessory designer who hopes to make container houses the government could use for natural disaster victims, colleges could use for dorm space, and neighbors could use to expand existing homes.

A lovely fireplace and exotic mantle pieces, make it look even more beautiful then it already is. They all add to the luxury and warmth this penthouse eludes. The bathroom has the best fittings and lovely design. All in all, the place is breathtaking.

The three bedroom house showcases an angular design partly hidden by a stone facade kept intact. An open plan kitchen combined with the dining and living room were constructed on the original part of the building. Beautiful stone walls merge with modern furniture to create an outstanding interior design. Replacement windows, sliding doors and skylights were carefully placed to ensure natural light in all rooms of the house. The entry to the house is a two-story screened boathouse pavilion that offers beautiful views to the canal and Lake Austin.Furthermore in the warmer months and through the use of a large fireplace in the cooler ones, the space can be used throughout much of the year.

When it comes to architectural and/or interior design, the client is always right. So when the resident requests that their home look like a Shanghai night club, who are the designers to object to this decision? Radical remodels are, after all, ‘the new black†when it comes to adaptive reuse in architecture.

Designed by The Apartment, an NYC interiors-oriented agency, this space went from a derelict ex-YMCA filled with rusty old lockers and bland light-colored walls to a dark and intense space that does indeed look as if it might be open for some late-night business.

Intentionally gaudy gold-colored and framed faux-glamorous objects deck the walls, standing out brilliantly as bright decor against the black background. Disco-balled-shaped lights are suspended upon the likewise dark dining room table-and-chairs set that might as well be part of a VIP back-stage area.

Walls, meanwhile, are apparently for wimps – there are precious few dividers between different spaces, including a relatively wide-open bathroom with a raised (and black-tiled, of course) bathtub. Spotlights make sure nothing feels too private as well.

This design approach is definitely not for everyone. Then again, it was never intended to be. Clearly both the designer group and client were shooting for something strange, sensational, unique and inspired … if you find it less than livable, just be glad you do not have to live in it!
